What are Cupping Notes?

Cupping notes refer to the specific flavors, aromas, and other sensory characteristics that are identified during a coffee cupping, which is a standardized method of coffee tasting used by coffee professionals to evaluate the quality and flavor of coffee beans.

During a coffee cupping, tasters evaluate the coffee's aroma, acidity, body, flavor, and aftertaste. They use a standardized process that involves smelling the coffee grounds, tasting the coffee, and spitting it out to avoid over-caffeination. Cupping notes may describe flavors such as fruity, floral, nutty, or chocolatey, as well as more specific notes like citrus, blueberry, caramel, or black tea. They may also describe the coffee's mouthfeel, such as whether it feels creamy, syrupy, or watery.

Cupping notes are often used by coffee professionals to describe and evaluate different coffee varieties, and they can be helpful in guiding consumers who are looking for specific flavor profiles in their coffee. At the bottom of all our bags you will see your beans cupping notes!
